This is a very welcome addition to the Little Me, Big God series. There are now five books altogether, with two more due to be released in October. It tells the Easter story, or ‘how God sent someone to fix everything’, with extremely creative illustrations supporting the text. What a brilliant idea to have two blank pages with just the words, ‘…not here!’ and again, the cross-shaped words: ‘But Jesus died for us’ on another blank page. The contrast of black and white pages is also very effective, as are the outstretched arms and the ‘ripped’ pages. Although advertised as aimed at two to four-year-olds, my four-year-old and five-year-old ‘guinea pigs’ did not enjoy it as much as another in the series, probably because the concepts are harder to understand. However, the six-year-old said she preferred it because: ‘If people read it, they can become Christians through it.’ I particularly like the notes for adults: these are incredibly useful when giving the books to children of unchurched parents. I note that the books have been translated into several European languages; rightly so. They deserve to be as widely disseminated as possible.
