Dale Ralph Davis’ third volume on the Psalms, “In the Presence of my Enemies” is a wonderful exposition of Psalms 25-37. The work combines careful thorough exegesis with warm uplifting application as Davis deals with the subject of conflict in Psalms 25-37. Each chapter helpfully begins with Davis’ personal translation of the Psalm he is expounding, which, from the onset, makes for fresh insight. Next Davis expounds the Psalm with exceptional clarity, quality illustrations, and warm application.

Additionally, Davis is not afraid to punctuate the book with light-hearted quips and relatable stories which make his scholarly work accessible to the ordinary reader. Whether studying in an academic context or nestling down for private devotion, readers of varied backgrounds will benefit from this brilliant exegesis of Psalms 25-37.
