Books. Good books. Great books. Amazing books. Best of all, every single book is about our good, great and amazing God.
"A true missionary leaves the bible in the heart, head, and hands of the disciple. The authority and accuracy of anything you say have nothing to do with your ability to tell memorable stories, share sentimental reflections, entertain them with humor, charisma, and personality, motivate them with big vision, or impress them with academic knowledge. No, the authority and sufficiency of anything you say is directly related to the written Word and how it points to the Living Word."
'The Missionary Theologian' is easily in my top five reads for 2020. I think all my ministry friends are sick to death of me recommending it to them. E.D Burns writes in a readable, encouraging and informative way. While also being challenging, revealing and critical of the past in the hope that we move forward theologically to a more robust missionary mindset. And I know this is not a church planting book, but as as a church planter, I couldn’t help viewing the book through that lens which I found helpful and impactful in my ministry. There is so much more I want to write on this book, but I will simply say buy it - well worth a read!
