Catherine Mackenzie has a way of getting under children’s skin and knows just how to communicate at their level. Everyone knows the story of Mary the mother of Jesus, but here it is told simply and succinctly. The illustrations are colourful, abounding with everyday things belonging to children of today. Alternate pages of 1st and 21st century bring together the timeless message that trusting in Jesus is for any age.

I read it to my grandson who is four and although the book is a block card book, it was just right for his age because it related to his life. The questions on each page made him think about where he was born and whether he liked to sing. We had fun reading it together, pointing out all the animals and adding story upon story to every page.

This book captures the imagination of young children and holds it to the end steering them in the direction of Jesus.
