In this informative and useful book Robert Bashford details the ministry of Jesus’ last week in Jerusalem. His study commences with the triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and ends with Jesus proclaiming Himself as Saviour of the World probably at the beginning of Maundy Thursday. Bashford deftly handles material from the Synoptic Gospels accounts as well as relevant portions of John’s Gospel. In doing so, he presents the reader with a comprehensive record of Jesus’ momentous actions and teachings, applying them so that we can acknowledge the authority, grace and majesty of our Saviour.

The style is instructional and devotional, with each chapter finishing with a prayer. The author consistently offers reasoned and relevant discussions on perceived textual difficulties. In addition to the twelve substantive chapters, the author includes an appendix setting out the relevant Scripture passages to enable comparison between these texts. This is a very helpful book to have, especially as we approach Easter, and will definitely aid and illuminate studies of this vital section of the Gospels.
