In this book Wiersbe unpacks the High Priestly prayer of Jesus in John 17. It is a given that John 17 contains the greatest prayer ever prayed and is worthy of much study, reflection and prayer in order to glean by the Holy Spirit’s illumination as much of the profound and yet very practical theology that there is in the twenty verses that make up the chapter. Wiersbe ably contributes to this.

The petitions in the prayer are outlined and four priorities emphasised through the petitions that Jesus made: glory (v1-5), security (v6-12), sanctity (v13-19) and unity (v20-26). These main themes are the framework around which and the foundation upon which the prayer is unpacked and explained and applied. A great commentary, useful for personal/group Bible study and as an aid to devotions. Jesus’ petition in v24 is now Weirsbe’s reality. He passed away last year: ‘Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am and to see my glory’.
