The author in this book is addressing those issues, self-defeating behaviours and thought patterns which you just seem to be stuck on and not get over or find a way through.

He does this by a nine-step approach, looking at what makes you, “you”, your background, personality, circumstances, the baggage you carry, etc., before looking at ways of ‘connecting the lines between your daily struggles and your relationship with God’.

The chapters are short, peppered with steps and questions to help you explore the issues. However, I would strongly recommend that you work through this book with a Counsellor/pastor/friend to get the best from it. If you are stuck in addiction, then personally I think the 12-step programmes are still the best, clearer and progressiveandworked with a sponsor!
