This set of fourteen sermons on Ezekiel 36 were preached between the months of April and July 1956. In them, we sense something of the directness of Lloyd-Jones’ preaching as he used this Old Testament passage to challenge sinners about their spiritual state. His choice of words, while reverent and careful, ensured that there was clarity in what he said, and his applications were relevant to the times in which they were living. In this volume we have truly prophetic words as the preacher brings the Word of God to bear on the consciences of his listeners. No doubt, it is possible to use a book like this to escape from the present, whether we are preachers or readers. Nevertheless, today’s preachers can learn here from a master preacher of the twentieth century how to expound the Word of God in a manner that will enable listeners to see its relevance for them. Readers too will find the sermons interesting and challenging.
