This book is aimed at new Christians, but when I picked up the book, I wondered how attractive it would be for them to read because of the cover, number and length of chapters. However, I did find the book clear and helpful, and in fact wished I had these truths taught to me as a young Christian!

The topics discussed are described as ‘The Essentials of ... Faith, the Bible, Church, Prayer, the Holy Spirit, Holiness, Growth, Guidance, Relationships, Parenting, Evangelism, Work, Stewardship, Suffering, Perseverance'. There are also two Appendices, one on 'Marriage', which is helpful if you are a young single Christian, and one giving a perspective on ‘Where is God when it hurts’. Each topic covered is done so with efficiency and sufficient depth to give a clear and concise overview of the subject without being bogged down in it.

I would recommend this book both to new Christians and to those seeking to gain the basic but essential truths of what it means to follow Jesus.
