Peter tells his readers to 'Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone...But do this with gentleness and respect' (1 Pet 3.15). As is often the case, being informed certainly makes the task of 'doing' apologetics with gentleness and respect so much easier. Perhaps the area of attitude and approach is where we so often fail! This relatively short book, then, is useful and helpful because it provides a framework around which we can argue our belief in the Biblical God. The Christian worldview is the foundation we stand and build on, and the author first systematically explains why it alone makes sense when reasonably assessed. Several chapters then follow where he reasons with the reader, posing and anticipating questions. This makes for an engaging read, even if one doesn't hold to the Christian faith.

In the final chapter, the author collects his conclusions together in what is almost like the closing summary statement in a court case, ending with a plea that 'if you are beginning to think there are good reasons to believe Christianity...then I humbly suggest that may be a sign...that He wants you to see...and to hear...that because of God's immeasurable love, rebels like us can have the slate wiped clean and receive eternal life through his Son Jesus Christ'. May this book indeed bring many readers to that place!
