This is a very full book and not always an easy read, as it is not dealing with an ‘easy’ subject. Keller does not just approach this age-old problem and questioning from a theological point of view, but with a pastor’s heart, concluding each chapter with a personal testimony of how someone ‘came through’ a period of trials/suffering.

This is not a ‘how to book’ to follow in so many steps, but he very much takes into account that everyone’s temperament is different and so we bear, react and respond differently to pain and trials. What works for one, does not necessarily work for another.

I would recommend this book, written by one who knows and trust and sees that God is there and working behind each of our painful experiences.
