When I began reading this book, I have to say the thought that was going through my mind was, ‘why yet another book on the attributes of God?’ After all, if you possess any Systematic Theology you’ll find sections on the attributes of God and there are plenty of them out there! But what sets this book apart from many others on similar topics is that it is not only an exploration and explanation of the attributes of God, but the author also progresses into the realm of implication for the Christian’s life as a follower of Jesus, and its application for the whole of humanity in a way that other Systematic volumes do not.

In fifteen in-depth chapters, Brian Russell unfolds and then unpacks the incommunicable qualities of the God who is ‘I AM’ - his transcendence, trinity, omnipresence, omniscience, wisdom, omnipotence, providence and immutability - and the communicable qualities of God - his holiness, love, grace and mercy, faithfulness, jealousy, wrath and glory - in a way that is meaty and meaningful; deep and devotional; profound and pastoral. This is well worth reading and beneficial for any serious student of the Word and disciple of Jesus.
