Easily the most intensely practical Christian book I have read, Reset reads like the author is having a series of conversations with the reader, structured around various ‘Repair Bays’. The book is full of advice, patterns, practices and principles for every area of life. The author has sought to prayerfully apply these in his own life and he is hearteningly humble about how much of a struggle it can be.
The book gives the impression of being primarily a book of advice for men in formal ministry roles who are exhausted, depressed, anxious, stressed, and joyless. It definitely has this, and he draws from vast experience counselling ministers who are burned out. However, after reading it I would eagerly commend it to any brother in Christ who wants to bring some balance to the hectic life he may have found himself in. I would do so safe in the knowledge that he would be made to feel challenged, uncomfortable, but on a better path towards a rebalanced set of priorities. I didn’t think I needed to read this book until I read it.
